Eastern Economic Forum
The fourth Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) will take place on 11–13 September 2018 in Vladivostok.
As usual, the Forum will take place on the campus of Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) on Russky Island (Vladivostok). Organizers continue to work on preparing the EEF 2018 business programme. As in previous years, the focus will be on industry and investment, but in 2018 the programme will reportedly devote more attention to the development of human capital.
The business part of the Forum will be complemented by cultural and sporting programmes, which will include the debut of an international tournament for the abstract strategy board game Go, the annual Kano Jigoro international judo tournament among juniors under 21, and other events. The International Tall Ships’ Race will also be held for the first time at the EEF, according to recent reports.
Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation Anton Kobyakov held a meeting earlier in Moscow with Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Japan to Russia Toyohisa Kozuki during which they discussed prospects for economic cooperation between Russia and Japan as well as Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s planned participation in EEF 2018. Last year, Abe also led the Japanese delegation at the Forum.
EEF 2017 was attended by a record number of participants – 6,095 people, including 1,044 media representatives, and featured 121 events involving 878 speakers and moderators.
